Jenny Lewis‘ songs mean a lot to people. You could see that at the House of Blues on Saturday as a large crowd hung on every emotional lyric and clever turn of phrase from the former Rilo Kiley frontwoman.

No one would have complained if the set had been heavy on material from her excellent new album The Voyager. But instead she touched just as often on songs from her tender collaboration with the Watson Twins Rabbit Fur Coat, the sprawling solo album Acid Tongue, and even highlights from her Rilo Kiley days like “Silver Lining,” “Moneymaker,” and the marching anthem “A Better Son/Daughter.”

Throughout the blissful set, it was clear that Lewis’ voice has never sounded better. Her vocals were deep but youthful, winking but wise, and incapable of hitting a false note. Combined with the exceptional talent at play in her backing band and the seasoned comfort with which Lewis commanded the stage, Saturday’s show was a brilliant snapshot of an artist whose prime has no end in sight.
