Well, as we predicted, the face-melting duo known as Sleigh Bells put on a hell of a show at the semi-closed Block No. 16 on Saturday. Frontwoman Alexis Krauss jogged on stage with the swagger and fashion sense of Muhammad Ali, tossing her boxer’s robe to the floor and working the crowd like a speedbag for the hour-long set. Derek Miller’s guitar riffs were as jagged and deadly as ever, and the addition of a live drummer helped give the group’s already vibrant sound even more pep. Some blogs may be declaring Sleigh Bells past their prime, but Saturday’s powder keg of a show proved that they remain as vital and badass a live band as ever.
