San Diego radio station 91x threw a birthday party at the House of Blues on January 12.
The concert was a celebration of 30 years of broadcasting in the San Diego area and featured sets by many local acts that have graced the airwaves over the years. The lineup included Slighty Stoopid, P.O.D., Buck-O-Nine, The Rugburns featuring Steve Poltz, Vokab Kompany, and Sprung Monkey. Even a few somewhat-random celebrity guests dropped in, with comedian Katt Williams and rapper Flavor Flav of Public Enemy making brief appearances on stage while music mogul Suge Knight looked on. Eager concertgoers actually had to win tickets to the event through the station; no tickets were sold. The musical sets were mostly short and sweet with a mix of nostalgic hits as well as stories culled from 30 years of San Diego music history.
