Lykke Li put on an amazing show at the North Park Theatre on Monday. The Swedish songwriter entranced the audience with songs from each of her albums, including Owl and Bear’s favorite release of 2011, Wounded Rhymes.
There’s no other performer who exudes the simultaneous charisma, wisdom, and vulnerability that Li does. Luckily, the top-shelf sound system at the recently revamped venue was up to the task of preserving each of those traits for the sold-out crowd. Highlights of the set included a soaring rendition of “Jerome,” a hushed cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire,” and Li inviting the crowd to wave their cellphones in the air lighter-style during one ballad.
