On a rare drizzly day in San Diego, Weezer still managed to draw a large crowd to the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
The Los Angeles band, now a staple of the Del Mar summer series, put on a set chock full of Blue Album hits, including “My Name is Jonas,” “Say It Ain’t So,” “Undone (The Sweater Song),” and “Buddy Holly.”
At the show, singer Rivers Cuomo seemed a little slow to warm up: he didn’t greet the crowd when the band took the stage, and he didn’t offer up any banter for the first few songs. That didn’t stop the front row — made up of fans ages 16-60 — from singing along to all the songs, though. These enthusiastic followers also kept the security guards busy, who had to tell people to stop pushing forward and even extracted a few concertgoers from the melee.
