When you think of Goth people, the adjective “pasty” might come to mind. But at Dum Dum Girls‘ recent Casbah show, there was an unexpected word of the day: pasties.
The dream-pop band was in town to kick off a tour in support of its latest album, the critically acclaimed Too True. Frontwoman Dee Dee Penny (née Kristin Gundred) celebrated the occasion by donning a provocative outfit that included a sheer top and a pair of pitch-black pasties.
The barely there ensemble may have captured the sold-out crowd’s gaze at first, but it wasn’t long before everyone’s attention shifted to the barrage of relentlessly catchy songs like “Bedroom Eyes,” “He Gets Me High,” and “Rimbaud Eyes.”
