Thao and the Get Down Stay Down packed the Casbah on Sunday night, playing tracks off their terrific new album, We the Common. Thao led the crowd in singalongs of tracks like “Holly Roller” and “When We Swam” and, unlike the audience at last month’s Houston show, the San Diegans in attendance actually knew the words. The crowd’s enthusiasm prompted the usually stoic Thao to beam, proclaiming the show to be “the best Sunday ever.”
Speaking of stoic, Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside‘s set was a bit more reserved than their shit-talking new album might have led fans to expect. But that didn’t stop Ford and Co. from launching into faithful renditions of songs like “Bad Boys” and “They Told Me.” Check out photos of both sets below.
