Halloween is just around the corner and, thanks to two new biopics, Alfred Hitchcock is enjoying a surge of renewed interest lately. The Burning of Rome‘s video for “Norman Bates” arrives at the perfect time to capitalize on both those events, offering a blood-soaked retelling of Hitchcock’s classic Psycho.
The “Norman Bates” video stars Burning of Rome frontman Adam Traub as the titular hotel owner, who struggles to overcome his murderous urges during an increasingly awkward dinner with a Janet Leigh lookalike. Like the band’s music, the video is simultaneously creepy and fun, showing off the band’s oddball dark side and love of cinema. And hey, as far as remakes of Psycho go, this is worlds better than Gus Van Sant’s 1998 irredeemable turd.
The song “Norman Bates” is just one of many fantastic tracks on The Burning of Rome’s Owl and Bear-approved With Us, which came out on September 18. You can pick up a copy of the album here.
