It’s hard to seem dark or edgy when you’re singing a Blondie song in a bathtub, but Mini Mansions manage to pull it off.
The Los Angeles band’s video for “Heart of Glass” finds singer/percussionist Michael Shuman doing his best Debbie Harry impression while covering himself in feathers and a carnival mask, yet somehow the whole thing comes across as more Black Sabbath than Rebecca Black. The track is the B-side to the “Monk” 7-inch, but has become a staple of the band’s reliably awesome live shows.
You can experience a Mini Mansions show for yourself this Saturday, March 17, when they play the Tin Can with The Burning of Rome and Short Eyes. The San Diego date is the first in a month-long tour of California. Once they’re done with that, Mini Mansions will return to LA to put the finishing touches on their highly anticipated sophomore album, which they plan to release this summer.
