Working for San Diego’s most beloved animal-named music blog means seeing a lot of shows. Going to so many concerts, it’s easy to become jaded, and even the prospect of seeing bands you love more than once can feel like a chore. But no matter how many times they come to town, we never get tired of Mini Mansions.
The LA trio tackled their first headlining Casbah gig with style, wowing the crowd with the diabolical, harmonious sounds that made their 2010 debut such a treat. The band performed new songs from its in-progress sophomore album, as well as covers of Sparks’ “Sherlock Holmes” and Blondie’s “Heart of Glass.” The set was yet another home run for Mini Mansions, and left us looking forward to seeing them again.
