Pit Er Pat to Flexibly Entertain on January 26

Pit Er Pat - The Flexible Entertainer

Just the other day, I was sitting here with my abacus, thinking that it’s been 10,992 hours since I last heard from Pit Er Pat. So I says to myself, I says, “It’s High Time that they put out something new.”

Well, someone must’ve heard me. Fay Davis-Jeffers and Butchy Fuego, a.k.a. Pit Er Pat, a.k.a. one of O&B’s favorite bands of 2008, will release their next album, The Flexible Entertainer, on January 26, 2010.

According to a cryptic message from Thrill Jockey, the album was largely recorded live and has a “brave new sound,” with “fierce guitar [and] funky drums.” They go on to say (caps theirs):

IT’S WILD! LISTEN LOUD! SYNTHESIZERS! PERCUSSION! DRUM MACHINES. “HOT”! SUPREME SOUNDS FROM ANOTHER UNIVERSE! BEATS FROM THE FUTURE! – THE THICKEST – MOST INDESCRIBABLE – RING THE ALARM! IT’S MAGIC! GET INVOLVED WITH PIT ER PAT! HOLY SHIT! THIS IS A FUN BAND! INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN! YES, FEEL ON THIS VIBE! UNGGGGGHHHHH!!!!

If you’re wondering what Pit Er Pat have been up to since releasing High Time, the answers are quite simple: Butchy has cut records with numerous bands, and Fay has “consulted with the universe and received vision”, and they released a limited edition remix LP. Cool.

Evidently, in the very near future, Pit Er Pat will also play two shows in California with fellow Thrill Jockeyans Javelin. If you’re going to be in either Oakland or Los Angeles next week, you should check ’em out. Javelin are good, too.

Nov 10 – Lobot Gallery – Oakland, CA
Nov 12 – Los Angeles, CA – The Smell
